How to Get Into a Locked iPhone
When you enter the incorrect security passcode on your iPhone, the device will lock itself to protect your security and personal information. If you are unable to get into your locked iPhone, you can unlock your device at any time using the “Backup and Restore” feature in iTunes, or by performing a hard reset.

Method One of Two:
Restoring the iPhone

1
Connect the iPhone to your computer using a USB cable. iTunes will launch automatically upon recognizing your device.

2
Click on the icon for your iPhone displayed in the left sidebar or at the top of iTunes.[1]

3
Wait for the iPhone to automatically sync with iTunes. Your personal data will sync with iTunes even if you’re locked out of your device.

4
Press and hold the Home and Power buttons at the same time on your iPhone for up to 10 seconds until the Apple logo displays on-screen.

5
Release the Power button, while continuing to hold and press the Home button until “Connect to iTunes” displays on-screen.

6
Click on “Restore” when iTunes informs you it’s detected an iPhone in recovery mode. The latest version of iOS will download and install on your iPhone.

7
Wait for iTunes to finish restoring your device, then eject your iPhone from iTunes. Your iPhone will now be unlocked.[2]

Method Two of Two:
Troubleshooting

1
Restore your iPhone using the steps outlined above if the device informs you it’s been disabled. The iPhone will become disabled after the incorrect passcode has been entered six times in a row.

2
Perform a hard reset if restoring your iPhone does not reset the passcode. A hard reset will erase all contents from your device and restore it to factory settings.
Remove all attached cables from your iPhone.
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button, then swipe "slide to power off" to power off your iPhone.
Press and hold the Home button, and attach the iPhone to your computer using a USB cable.
Wait for the iPhone to power on automatically, while continuing to press the Home button. If the iPhone fails to power on by itself, press the Power button without releasing the Home key.
Continue pressing the Home button until “Connect to iTunes” displays on-screen.
Connect the iPhone to your computer using a USB cable. iTunes will launch upon recognizing your device.
Click on “OK” when iTunes informs you it’s detected a device in recovery mode.
Click on “Restore.” Your iPhone will now be unlocked.[3]
